SOVT 2018

The 32nd Scottish Open Volleyball Tournament has established itself as “the big weekend” of the volleyball year with over 100 teams making their annual Perth pilgrimage to the North Inch for a weekend of volleyball fun.

We know there is another “big weekend” of music taking place across the River Tay, but our weekend was first on the calendar and because of the “other” event there is even more pressure on local accommodation for those who like the comforts of a guest house or hotel.

Our campsite and parking facilities on the North Inch are again available at reasonable cost as we know the bulk of teams prefer to hang out with fellow volleyballers before and after the days of competition.

We welcome new faces to join with our regulars in our seven divisions of competition: 3 men’s divisions, one women’s division and 3 mixed divisions.

Our mixed divisions are again our most popular with over 50 teams opting for this once a year opportunity to play competitive volleyball with friends, family and work buddies in a fun environment.

The Scottish Open is recognised as the most popular outdoor volleyball event in the UK with teams coming from around the UK and Europe. Always early entries come from our volleyball friends in the Faroe Islands and Belgium.

Our volunteer organising committee is geared up to providing support and back-up in the many facilities which have to be prepared and organised for smooth running before, during and after our major volleyball event.

Fun is a key element of our tournament and many teams spend much time in preparing for the tournament selecting appropriate fun team names as well as choosing unique fancy dress playing kit.
