Jubilee Celebration Events

Well it’s almost here – just a few weeks to go and we’re there, this year’s Jubilee Scottish Open Volleyball Tournament on Perth’s North Inch.

Again we have a great entry for the outdoors’ tournament with teams coming from far and wide to enjoy the country’s biggest volleyball festival.

This year, on the Saturday, we share the North Inch with the City of Perth’s Jubilee Celebrations to which you are all invited along (just don’t get carried away and miss your game times)!

The Thousand Pipers’ Parade leaves the North Inch at 11 o’ clock and marches around Perth, returning to the North Inch at 12 noon for a grand performance to start the Big Jubilee Lunch which is scheduled from 12 noon till 4 pm. There will be pipe bands from Germany, Malta, Switzerland, England, France, USA, Ireland, Pakistan and the Netherlands as well as home grown local pipe bands.

During the afternoon there will be a Jambouree Festival featuring Samba Band, Rhythm Wave, Big Band, Brass Band, Fiddle Orchestra, Choirs and singers.

To complement this there will be a “Taste of Perthshire” tent hosting Hilton Wild boar sausages on a roll, the Wee Pie Company’s fantastic veggie pies & stovies,  Stewart Tower Dairy ice creams and sorbets, Willows scrumptious cakes, tea, coffee & bacon rolls, Jim Fairlie’s classic lamb hotpot & burgers, not forgetting our world famous haggis, neeps & tatties.  The food court will be open from 9 a.m. Till 4 p.m

To wash it all down the Inveralmond Brewery Beer tent will provide you with a range of their beers.

There will be an attempt to break the Guinness Book of Records for the Largest Kilt Race, an 8k race with over 1,000 participants expected to start at 2 p.m.

And just after 4 pm there will a spitfire fly past.

All this and volleyball too – a great weekend in store so don’t miss out on the fun with our traditional ceilidh on Friday evening and our Jubilee disco on the Saturday.
