2015 Scottish Open Volleyball Tournament
Thirty years ago the first Scottish Open Volleyball Tournament was held in Perth with five indoor courts at Bell’s Sports Centre and ten outdoor courts on the North Inch. Camping was not permitted on the North Inch so campers on the Lesser South Inch had to make their way to the North Inch each morning. A total of 38 teams took part in that first tournament.
The SOVT is now well established in the British and European volleyball calendar attracting just over 100 teams each year. We invite you to enter your teams in our unique “Scottish” volleyball experience of the year.
Over 100 teams from across Europe are again expected to assemble for the weekend from near and far with up to 40 outdoor courts on the North Inch catering for men’s, women’s and mixed divisions. It is you, the volleyball player, who makes the tournament what it is – a fun, enjoyable, competitive weekend and that’s why players and teams come back year after year.
Weekend car parking and camping are again available on the North Inch with the usual food and drinks available from the Inch Restaurant or the famed Burger Bar!
Have you and your team ever played in fancy dress? Join the growing number of teams who do – remember the team with the best fancy dress gains free entry to next year’s tournament.
Our willing band of volunteers hope you will make every effort to enjoy this year’s Scottish Open and look forward to seeing old faces and some new ones, in “fancy dress” uniform or not – so come along and join in our fun festival of volleyball which will be our 29th tournament.

2014 Scottish Open Volleyball Tournament
The 2014 Tournament is shaping up to be a real extravaganza of volleyball indoors and outdoors with the announcement that, in conjunction with Scottish Volleyball, we are also hosting the Women’s European Championship Qualifiers for the C Division.
Perth has established itself as the volleyball capital of the UK for this one special weekend of the year. Perth’s North Inch has hosted many and varied events over the centuries, none probably more famous than the Battle of the Clans in 1396, a unique spectacle witnessed by the King himself along with the townsfolk and others from the surrounding area.
We invite you to enter your team in our unique volleyball experience of the year, the famed Scottish Open Volleyball Tournament which draws teams from across the globe. We welcome back the “Flying Grandfathers” from Genoa in Italy along with our Belgian friends for another weekend of sporting fun and fellowship.
Over 100 teams are again expected to assemble for the weekend from near and far with up to 40 outdoor courts, lovingly prepared on the North Inch catering for men’s, women’s and mixed divisions. This year’s Scottish Open will undoubtedly be memorable, in whichever division you choose to play.
Weekend car parking and camping are again available on the North Inch with the usual food and drinks available from the Inch Restaurant or the famed Burger Bar!
The volleyball highlight of the weekend is not just reserved for the teams who reach the final of their particular competition where winning teams will receive one of our unique trophies, but for everyone who contributes to making the event special – remember the team with the best fancy dress gains free entry to next year’s tournament.
Our willing band of volunteers hope you will make every effort to enjoy this year’s Scottish Open and look forward to renewing “auld acquaintances,” in “fancy dress” uniform or not – so come along and join in the fun of our 29th tournament.
